County Homeless Census

The Local Housing Options Team, a subcommittee of the Wayne County Quality Council will be conducting a street count of unsheltered homeless people in Wayne County on Thursday, August 21, 2014 from 4:30 PM to 9:30 PM.  Team members will be identified by ID badges.

Teams of professionals and volunteers will be conducting interviews, providing emergency referrals, and other outreach services.  The county is asking for assistance in identifying probable locations where unsheltered individuals and families may reside in the borough.  In particular they are looking for people who are living in places unfit or unsafe for human habitation such as tents, garages, the street, wooded areas, campgrounds, under bridges, abandoned buildings, or in vehicles.

Cindy Matthews is the point of contact with Wayne County Human Services.  She may be reached Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4 PM, at (570) 253-9200 or by email at cmatthews@co.wayne.pa.us.
