Balsam Swamp Road Project – Bid Info

UPDATE: Prompton Borough received the following bids at the July meeting:

  • E.R. Linde Construction Corp.: $19,557
  • Bill Pykus Excavating, Inc.: $18,050

Council voted to accept the low bid from Bill Pykus Excavating, Inc.


The Wayne Conservation District has approved Prompton’s application for funding through the Dirt, Gravel, and Low Volume Road (DGLVR) program.  The funds are for repairs to Balsam Swamp Road.

The borough will be accepting bids for the project.  All bidders must meet with borough officials at the project site.  No bids will be considered from bidders who do not attend a pre-bid meeting.

There will be a pre-bid meeting held on location at 7:00 PM, Friday, June 5.  Participants should meet at Balsam Swamp Road at the bridge that crosses over the Van Auken Creek.

Sealed bids will be opened at the regular July meeting of the Prompton Borough.  The July meeting is tentatively scheduled for July 3 at 8:00 PM.  The meeting may be moved to July 10 at 8:00 PM due to the holiday.

A brief summary of the required work follows; details will be provided at the pre-bid meeting:

  • Re-shape bank and place R-4
    • Pregrade road
    • Clean bank
    • Create ditchline
    • Install R-4 stone
  • Resurface roadway
    • 14′ wide
    • 8″ loose (compacted to 6″) DSA
    • 1,380′ approximate total distance

Truck for Sale

Prompton Borough Council will receive sealed bids delivered by June 6, 2014, via USPS to:

for the following item: 1997 GMC 2500 truck with plow and cinder spreader.

Vehicle is on display at Rt 6 and River Rd in Prompton.  Sealed bids may also be presented in person prior to opening and reading aloud of bids at the Prompton Fire Hall on June 6, 2014 at 8:00PM.  Borough reserves the right to reject any and all bids.

UPDATE: The borough received no bids on the plow truck at the June meeting.  Anyone interested in purchasing the truck may make an offer to councilman Gus Heberling at Heberling’s Sports Shop during normal business hours.

Accepting Bids for Church Street Paving Project

Bid Packet- Prompton Boro Paving Project Church St

Sealed proposals will be received by the Borough of Prompton, Wayne County at PO Box 13, Prompton, PA 18456 until 8 PM on Friday, July 5, 2013, for the following project:

PennDOT Description

  1. 71 tons of Superpave scratch & leveling course (1/2 inch), 9.5 mm, in place
  2. 212 tons of Superpave wearing course (1 1/2 inch), 9.5 mm, in place

Location

Project is located on Church Street in Prompton. It runs from the intersection with Prompton Road to the markings in the road (about 1175 feet). Required width is 18 feet. Please see map below for general location.

Special Requirements

All bidders are required to meet with at least one borough representative at project location prior to bid submission to discuss key project details. Coordination may be made directly with any member of the road committee: Dan Biondo, Lynn Holl, or Dale Odell. Contact information for these individuals is available by request to secretary@promptonpa.com.

Additional Details

Liquidated damages apply at the rate of $250 per calendar day. Proposals must be upon the forms furnished by the Municipality. The bid must be accompanied by a certified check or bid bond in the amount of 10% of the bid, made payable to Prompton Borough. A performance bond or certified check in the amount of 100% of the contract shall be furnished by the successful bidder within 20 days after the contract is awarded. The Municipality reserves the right to reject any or all proposals. Please refer to the Bid Packet for complete project details and requirements.
